CompTIA Announces New Certification Policies for 2011

Beginning January 1, 2011, if you get A+, Network+, or Security+ before the beginning of 2011 they will still be lifetime certifications. However, starting in 2011, new Comptia certifications will expire after three years. Comptia A+, Comptia Network+ and Comptia Security+ - are accredited by the ISO, an international body which approves the procedures used by personnel certification bodies. ISO requires that individuals have a way to renew the currency of their certification on a regular basis. In CompTIA's case, that renewal will occur every three years.

CareerGuide notes that two of the top five growing careers are in IT, and that will continue through 2016. The 2011 Salary Report notes that pay is 8 percent higher than it was just a few years ago. Among IT hiring managers, nearly two-thirds rate IT certifications as having extremely high or high value in validating skills and expertise and 86% of hiring managers indicate IT certifications are a high or medium priority during the candidate evaluation process.
